The world is extra interesting right now —> taking time to recentre is the best thing you can do for yourself taking time to recentre is the best thing you can do for yourself and your loved ones as it helps you feel connected / supported in the moment… which communicates to your nervous system that you are safe (aka. you feel more grounded and at ease in the moment vs. activated, jittery, numb or on edge).
When out in the world, or while you’re at home, notice what information you consume, and notice how you feel during and after you consume it. You have power to choose / select what you consume… it’s ok to take space from information and to create boundaries for your own wellbeing.
>>> if / when you feel your body grip or tighten, or you notice your mind start to spiral into fear-based thoughts or to race ahead triggering feelings of anxiety + overwhelm, challenge yourself to come back to your breath, soften your grip of trying to control and feel your feet on the ground….
Grounding Tip #1:
Breathe —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale 2, 3, 4 —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale 2, 3, 4 —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale: sigh it out —> hhhaaaaa.
Remind yourself: “I am safe; I am supported; I am enough; I am loved.”
Self check-in:
- What do you notice as you bring attention to your breath and your body?
- How are you feeling today?
- What’s 1 way you can offer yourself extra love, care and support right now?
* it could simply be a hand on heart; another deep breath, or the mantra: “Dear body, I love you – thank you.”
Repeat this mindfulness practice as much as you need throughout today + this week.
Grounding Tip #2:
Breathe —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale 2, 3, 4 —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale 2, 3, 4 —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale: sigh it out —> hhhaaaaa.
Check-in with yourself: “Body, I am here. We are safe. I am listening – what would you like me to know right now?”
Breathe + listen.
Feel your grip loosen.
Feel your shoulders relax.
Feel your jaw unclench.
Feel your belly soften.
Breathe —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale 2, 3, 4 —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale 2, 3, 4 —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale: sigh it out —> hhhaaaaa.
Grounding Tip #3:
Breathe —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale 2, 3, 4 —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale 2, 3, 4 —-> inhale 2, 3, 4 —> exhale: sigh it out —> hhhaaaaa.
Bring a hand to your heart and to your low belly.
Rest your attention on your heart.
Feel your belly + chest expand as you inhale; and soften + relax as you gently exhale.
Repeat x 5 cycles of breath.
Remind yourself: “I am safe. I am supported. I am powerful. I am wise. It is safe to soften and receive.”
Keep coming home to your body + heart – and – greeting yourself with gratitude, compassion + kindness.
>>> You can trust yourself. You can trust the signals your body is communicating with you to get your attention to pause + tune in.
>>> Your body + heart are working with you and guiding you towards your most optimal health… AND… reminding you of your innate worthiness and wholeness.
